| Electric Voiturette - Some Build Photos/Movie ClipsHello to all Engine & Wheels Forum members. A couple of photos showing 1st time car emerged from workshop with wheels attached to body: Photo1 Photo2 (sorry folks - have now fixed this broken link - it helps if I actually upload the photos!) Four clips showing chief tester Scott (13) checking out the new build in the garden: Clip 1 (1Mb) Clip 2 (1.1Mb) Clip 3 (1.5Mb) Clip 4 (0.8 Mb) As you can see no seat cushions, mudguards (fenders) or paintwork yet. Still to make several adjustments on motor mounts, beam axle guides & suspension end stops (you can hear the clunking) but vehicle seems fairly peppy and manoeuvrable. It's quiet too - today's chain drives seem to make less noise than those of the late 1800's. (So I deduce - the original Renault version replaced the "noisy" chain drive of another vehicle with its direct drive system.) Photos of the car with mudguards attached (still no seat cushions): And with seat cushions (upholstery isn't one of my big strengths!): One showing the upper body lifted off the main chassis: Okay, I've now had a go at varnishing the car - I'm afraid the standard of finish isn't up to that I've seen in many vehicles photographed in E&W but I think I know what I'm not quite doing right (mainly lack of patience on my part!). It's also turned out darker than I intended but still okay I think. Am waiting now for some small additional rear suspension springs to stiffen up the rear - the overall weight distribution is slightly different from my estimates and the centre of mass is slightly further back - so the rear sinks a bit too much when I get on it. A couple more movie clips - one with yours truly driving (the slow one!)
